November 26, 2009 Lola Marie Baum White slipped out of this world to be with her husband, son Lynn, daughter Sherry, parents and 4 siblings. When our little family moved back from Oregon 6 years ago we had the pleasure of getting to know Grandma and Grandpa very well. I don't think there was a time that we didn't feel welcome in their home.
When I think of grandma I think of her gentle kindness and thoughtful way about her. She equals LOVE! We raised a garden at their house so we were able to go on a daily basis. We learned so much about them and gained a relationship that not many others had. My kids loved grandma Lola and grandpa Melvin more than any other grandparents, it's no wonder, they were relentless in spoiling our kids. There was always a cookie that needed to be eaten or ice cream, etc. Each time we went, grandma and grandpa thought they needed to feed us. Even if we had already eaten they thought we should eat again. We always helped clean up and grandma would always say"Many hands make light work". What a great saying!
After grandpa passed away grandma stayed in the care center, and for awhile she lived at Parkside Manor. Elva, grandma's sister was always there visiting. We would go several times a week to visit her. So we also got to know Elva really well. As time went on grandma talked less and less and sometimes didn't make since when she spoke, but each time we went she always brightened up when she saw our kids.
Grandma is one of my heros! She is an amazing, very Christlike woman. We miss her dearly! Sunday nights we still feel as though we need to go to the care center so we visit Elva instead. We have been so blessed to have Grandma Lola in our lives!
Grandma in Egypt riding a camel. She loved to travel and has been everywhere in the world 2 or 3 times! I hope we can travel the way she did with grandpa.
