Allie in the UBIC Event Guide

So a guy from the paper came to us while we were at the park and asked if he could interview Allie.  He was interviewing several children for the UBIC event guide instead of writing a long article about the history of UBIC.  This years theme is "Through Children's Eyes".  She was excited to see herself in the paper, however that day in the park she was wearing her"princess dress" aka her pj's.  This was her interview:

Allie's Birthday Party with Dusty's Family

Allie has asked for a pink dinosaur( pronounced di-me soar) cake for several months now.  I have no idea where she got the idea but it hasn't changed.  It is an ice cream cake with chocolate, vanilla, and cookies n' cream ice cream.  Yum!!
 Blowing out the candles.
On her new bike that my parents gave her.  She was scared because it was tipping.  I don't know if she thought she could fall off but she didn't like it.

Party Night for Allie's Birthday

For Dinner we had a pizza party and had root beer floats.  Allie picked out the movie Tangled.  Even with all of Emma's coaxing Allie would not budge and rent a movie from Redbox, she was determined to watch Tangled.
We let her open a present and it was perfect!  We gave her a Tangled dess and she wore it while we watched the movie.  She loves it!

Allie's Birthday Breakfast

Allie had a birthday breakfast and picked the same things as Nathan.  She does that a lot, copies Nathan that is.  She had eggs, sausage, and chocolate muffins.

Allie's Drawing of Her Friend

Most little kids don't draw people as they are.  Most kids stat out drawing a circle with a face and then the arms and legs come out of the head, however Allie actually drew the body.  I thought she did a great job and it deserved to make it on our blog!

Easter Scripture Cookies

E, N , & A beating the chocolate chips.

Sealing the oven.
Sunday morning, ready to unseal the oven and get the cookies.

This is one of our favorite Easter traditions!

Easter Scripture Cookies

1 cup pecan halves wooden spoon wax paper

1 tsp vinegar ziploc baggy cookie sheet

3 egg whites mixing bowl tape

1 tsp salt Bible

1 cup sugar

*Preheat the oven to 300 degrees (this is important to do first so the oven is completely preheated)

*Place pecans in baggy and let the children beat them with a spoon to break them into small pieces. After Jesus was arrested, he was beaten by Roman soilders. Read John 19:1-3.

*Let the children smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp of vinegar into the mixing bowl. When Jesus was thirsty on the cross he was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.

*Add the egg whites to the vinegar. The eggs represent life. Jesus gave His life for our lives. Read John 10:10-11.

*Sprinkle a little salt into each child’s hand, let them taste it. Add a dash of salt. The salt represents the salty tears shed by Jesus’ followers and the bitterness of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27.

*So far the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 cup of sugar. The sweetest part of this story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and follow Him. Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16.

*Beat with a mixer on high speed for 11-15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed. The color white represents the purity in God’s eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3.

*Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper covered cookie sheet. Each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus’ body was laid. Read Matt. 27:65-66.

*Put the cookie sheet in the oven. TURN OFF THE OVEN. Close the oven door. Give each child a piece of tape to seal the oven door. Jesus’ tomb was sealed.

*Go to Bed.

*You may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus’ followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20 and 22.

*On resurrection morning open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! One the first resurrection day, Jesus’ followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read Matt. 28:1-9.

Dying Easter Eggs

Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny came to our house Friday night instead of Saturday. We decided that we would enjoy the Easter goodies Saturday so we could focus on the Savior all day Sunday. Nathan, Allie, and Emma got some candy and a church outfit. They were so excited!

Emma wrote the Easter bunny a note so he wouldn't get the baskets confused. I'm a little confused but she did say thank you.

Allie & Her BFF

Allie told us that President Monson was her best friend. Later she said he was her BFF. It just so happened that she wore the shirt she did. So during this mornings session of conference I had to get a picture of her and her best friend.

Allie's 1st Hair Cut

Allie loves her long princess hair! Anytime we would talk to her about cutting her hair she would get upset and say no.
Finally we talked her into trimming her hair.

Now it looks so much thicker!
She loves it! After I cut it she walked around and hardly moved her head because she didn't want to mess up her hair.

Birthday Party at the Hospital

Emma, Nathan, Kamerie, and Allie
When a baby is born at our hospital the hospital gives brownies and ice cream to the older siblings to celebrate the baby's birthday. Since Aaron was born during RSV season my kids weren't allowed to come back to the maternity wing to see him. When they went to bed Thursday night they had no idea I was in labor and before they woke up Friday morning they had a new brother. I didn't say good bye to them. I wanted to see them and they wanted to see me so Grandma Janice brought them to the lobby of the hospital and we had a party with brownies and ice cream to celebrate Aaron's birthday.

Valentine Family Home Evening

So after we had our lesson for FHE about Choosing to Choose the right we decorated sugar cookies for 2 ladies in our ward. One fell and broke her ankle and the other had to get a knee replacement. We thought a visit and a treat might brighten their day. We had a great time and enjoyed the leftovers!

Nathan & Allie Shoveling Snow

If there is one thing Nathan loves, it's being outside. In the cold and snowy Utah weather Nathan learned at 2 1/2 years old how to ride a bike with no training wheels. He loves to shovel the snow, eat it, throw it, play in it, etc. I can tell him to get his chores done and he will just to be able to go outside. Well Allie is Nathan's little shadow. She wants to do everything that he does. It snowed and he wanted to shovel the sidewalks. After doing ours he went to the neighbors. One day he shoveled 4 different houses! just because he wanted too. And that is Allie playing with her shovel.

Christmas Eve

We had our big dinner on Christmas Eve because Dusty had to work on Christmas Day. It was fantastic!! Janice, Alan, and Wendi came to join us. We used our china and crystal at Emma's request and had a great meal, with great company, and it was very relaxing!
