Valentine's

On Saturday the 12th Dusty had church meetings and I was determined to get the house clean. Dusty and I went to the Stake Valentine's Dance that night and had friends come over after the dance to play games, so I wanted it clean! The kids were helpful to clean but made messes. By the time Dusty got home I was late for a bridal shower and I left in tears. When I got home the kids were standing at the door waiting for me. They cleaned the kitchen (the last room that needed to be cleaned), surprised me with a dozen roses, cards, and chocolate covered strawberries. Then I started to cry again and Allie thought something was wrong and she started to cry. Emma and Nathan knew I was happy. I must say Dusty stepped up and did good!!

For Valentine's Day we gave the kids a book, a movie pass, and a super fancy box of chocolates:)

Dusty's Valentine Dance

Every year our stake puts on a Valentine's Dance/Dinner. We have gone every year since we moved to Roosevelt, so this is our 8th year. For the past 3 years it has been over the top awesome with decorations and food. The activity people plan this one night months before and put so much time into it. This year they had the youth come and serve us and then had a group come out to perform for us. Before one of the dances they said they needed audience participation. They asked for the stake president and while everyone was looking around for the Stakers, in they walk. Perfect timing, I thought that was so funny, until they called for all of the bishops and their wives. Shouldn't I be exempt because I am 34 weeks pregnant? I guess I was the only one that thought I shouldn't have to do it but we were good sports. We were on the floor and the boys were on the stage. They showed us what to do and us girls did a fantastic job so we got to go back to our seats. The boys on the other hand didn't do such a great job so they had to redo it. After I got to my seat our friends said that would be funny if I had my camera. By the time I finally got it out I only got 17 second but it was funny. They were great sports about it!

Dusty's 37th Birthday

Dusty turned 37 this year. His birthday was on Sunday so he was at church until 6pm, when I told him that he needed to be home before that because people were coming over. He made it home just in time to change his clothes. We had friends and some of his brother's family come over for cake and ice cream. It's always fun to have friends and family over!

Emma's District Invention Convention

Nathan & Allie Shoveling Snow

If there is one thing Nathan loves, it's being outside. In the cold and snowy Utah weather Nathan learned at 2 1/2 years old how to ride a bike with no training wheels. He loves to shovel the snow, eat it, throw it, play in it, etc. I can tell him to get his chores done and he will just to be able to go outside. Well Allie is Nathan's little shadow. She wants to do everything that he does. It snowed and he wanted to shovel the sidewalks. After doing ours he went to the neighbors. One day he shoveled 4 different houses! just because he wanted too. And that is Allie playing with her shovel.

Emma's Invention Convention

Each year East Elementary has an invention convention. The kids have to find a problem and then invent a product that solves the problem. Well Emma wanted to invent something and came up with a problem. When she takes off her nail polish she sometimes spills the nail polish remover. So she came up with an anti-spill system that works great. She put the nail polish remover into a spray bottle to avoid all spills. The morning of the judging was a Tuesday, the day I help in my kids classrooms, and she told me that her friends thought she should win first place, they wanted to place an order for her to make each one of them a "Beauty Professor"(that is what she named it), and that even if she didn't win she had a great time doing it and thought she did her best.

I was so proud of her for her willingness to participate, the effort she put into her invention, and her attitude!! Then later after lunch I got a phone call and she told me that she won 3rd place and would get to go to the district invention convention. (That is her with her 3rd place trophy).

Mother/Daughter PJ Party

For Achievement Days the girls decided to have a mother/daughter date. They also thought the theme should be anything that starts with P. For example we wore PJs while eating pancakes and playing games. It was a fun night!
