Allie has discovered cats. She gets so excited when she sees them. Our cats are the best because they tolerate just about anything!

Our Garden

This is our garden. Closest is 3 rows of corn. We are going to plant another 3 rows, wait another week and then plant 3 more. That way all of the corn is not ready to eat at once. Last year I froze lots of it and it was a great treat in the winter time. Next are the tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers. We are staking the tomatoes because we hope they will grow as tall as the stakes. Next is a row of onions, 2 rows of peas, 2 rows of beans, 1 row of beets, 1 row of carrots, and 3 rows of potatoes. Then we have strawberries and raspberries. We love having a garden!!

Lost Money: Nails Part 2

So she still didn't have enough money to buy the nails she wanted. So she decided she wanted to make necklaces and sell them. She made ten and sold them for $1 a piece. We only went to half of the houses in our neighborhood and she had sold all of them. Another $10. After tithing and savings she had plenty of money to buy those nails.

Not only did she love them but she decided to share them with her friend Rachel. They only lasted a couple of hours but I think it was a great lesson learned. She plans to sell more necklaces and she asked her dad if she could sell his homemade jerky. They are still in negotiations.

Lost Money Part 1

After we went to Kaelyn's rodeo queen contest we went to Wal-mart. She had money from her allowance and wanted to hold it. I told her that was fine but if she lost it I would not replace it. She took her money and 15 minutes later one of her dollars had disappeared. As a parent it is tempting to rescue your child. I could give her a dollar, after all it was only 1 dollar. But I didn't. I wanted her to learn from this experience and boy am I glad I did!
I told her how sad I was for her. She told me she wanted to buy some nails. I said okay, lets go see how much they cost. I knew she couldn't buy them with only a dollar to her name. Even if she hadn't lost her other dollar the nails were to much but I didn't want to be the one to disappoint her. So we went to look. Press on nails are $5 for 24 nails. So the sign disappointed her instead of her mother! YEAH! So I asked her what she was going to do to get enough money to buy those nails. Then her little brain went to work.
On Monday she decided to have a lemonade stand. She did great and made $4. Now she had enough money for nails, however, she still had to pay tithing (10%) and herself savings(20% on everything she makes). That makes her $1.20 short.
