Nathan's 5th Birthday Party

Nathan asked me to make him a backhoe or cowboy cake. We were in Texas for his birthday so grandma Barbara took charge and ordered an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. YUM!!! She added the match box cars and the loader and Nathan loved it! He later told me that his favorite part of his birthday was that he got to keep the trucks on his cake. Thanks Grandma Barbara!!

Laser Tag

This year was Nathan's first time playing laser tag. He had a blast!! We played 3 games in a row. I wore his pack while he shot for the first 2 games and by the third time he was ready to be on his own. It has become a tradition that each time we go to Houston we play laser tag. My family knows it is a favorite of Dusty's!
Watch out for Emma!

WICKED!! Opening Night

While we were Houston Hurricane Alex decided to make his presence in the Gulf, so instead of going to Galvaston we had to make new plans. After the BBQ and pool party at Megan's house we started looking on line for things to do in Houston. I came across an advertisement that Wicked the Broadway play had come to Houston and the next night was opening night. So we tried to buy tickets but our hopes were soon dashed when all the tickets were sold out. The next day Ryan was downtown, he stopped by the tickets office to see if there were tickets for opening night. He called and of course I was so excited. He got 4 tickets. Thanks Ryan!!!

So Megan, Karin, Emma, and I got dressed up and that night headed to the theater. It was fantastic!!! I want to go again!!

After the show we were on our way to the car, we saw a group of people hanging out behind a red velvet rope, so we asked what was going on. They were waiting for the actors and actresses to come out. We were so excited, we wanted to meet them too!! We meet a mom and daughter that had followed Wicked from city to city and knew all about the cast. They gave us the scoop. We saw Mrs. Morrible come out. But the best was meeting Fiyero(Richard H. Blake) and Elphaba (Donna Vivino) and getting pictures with them!! It was a fantastic night!!!

Donna signed this for Emma. July 4th was her last performance as Elphaba.
